Parys High learner among top four in SA Physical Science Olympiad

The school is proud of her amazing achievement and looks forward to seeing what great heights she will achieve in future.

At the end of 2021, Grade 10 and Grade 11 students from around the country participated in the South African Physical Science Olympiad.
Only 23 grade 10 and 35 Grade 11 students in South Africa made it through to the second round. Brigitte van der Hoven, a Gr. 12 learner at Parys High School, was one of the top four to represent South Africa at the 54th International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO) in China from 10 to 20 July 2022.
Unfortunately, due to Covid and China being in lockdown, the International Olympiad will only be held online, and Brigette has chosen not to compete.
The level of work of the ICHO is equivalent to the UK ‘A’ levels and also university 1st and 2nd year – more advanced than matric level.
