Silver for Riko at XCO Free State Champs

Silver for Riko at XCO Free State Champs

On Saturday, 23 April, Riko Vorster, a learner from Parys Primary School and member of the Big Rock Cycling School in Parys, competed at the Free State XCO Mountain bike champion-ships in
Bloemfontein.

The Happy Valley course was dressed with an extra layer of mud from the heavy rainfall during the week leading up to the event. Some of the events for the championship were cancelled, but the conditions favoured the Sprog Boys race.
It was clear from the start that it would be a dash for the top three positions between Joshua Mostert, Riko Vorster, and Deon van Zyl. The top three riders in this four-lap race all finished within three minutes of each other.
Riko finished 30 seconds behind the winner, Joshua Mostert, to win the silver medal and earn second place on the championship podium.
Join Riko and the Big Rock Riders for cycling practice at the Anatomic track every week. All cyclists from ages 5 to 18 years are welcome to join and learn the skills and culture of cycling. Big Rock Riders also enjoy free access to the Koedoeslaagte trail park on weekends, when they can put their skills to the test. Send an email to info@parysmultisport.co.za for more information.
