Young Teboho Letsele’s biggest dream is to one day represent not only his country but Africa in the martial arts ring. The 22-year-old from the Tumahole township says he wants to be a symbol of hope and help others reach their dreams.
Inspired by the martial arts videos he watched, he started training alone at the age of 14. Five years later, in 2019, opportunity knocked on his door and he could start training at the Dome Wrestling Club in Parys.
Since then, he trains at Tri Dragons in the Vaal Triangle and on his own at the Tumahole Sports Centre. Last weekend was his first MMA breakthrough, beating Sifiso Hlawayo from Dominators in the third round at the Hammanskraal Carousel Hotel and Casino. On 28 May, he will represent his hometown in the battle ring again. Teboho is a former learner of Schonkenville and Weiveld Agricultural and Hotel School.
