It’s more than one unit of blood – it’s a life-saving move

Traditionally, the festive season is a difficult time for the South African National Blood Service (SANBS), as they are unable to collect the 3,500 units of blood a day needed to treat patients. The SANBS would therefore like to encourage the community of Parys to find 30 minutes to donate blood this holiday period. It is only possible to meet the demand with the help of regular and committed blood donors.

The SANBS, in partnerships with Jimmy Jaggers Bar & Grill, Parys, would like to invite the community of Parys to donate blood at Jimmy Jaggers Bar & Grill from 11:00 – 16:00 on Saturday, 4 December 2021.

The SANBS requires 50 gifts of life to fill the festive stocking on the day. One unit of blood equals one gift of life.

To become a blood donor, you must:

● Be between the ages of 16 and 75 years

● Weigh 50 kg or more

● Be in good health

● Lead a safe lifestyle

● Consider your blood safe for transfusion to a patient

● Commit to donating blood regularly. The SANBS sincerely thanks Jimmy Jaggers Bar & Grill, Parys, for their continued support and commitment to saving lives.

We wish to thank you on behalf of thousands of patients for making a significant difference. A blood donation gives patients a second chance with their loved ones, another Christmas to remember, another summer holiday at the beach. It’s more than just one unit of blood – it is a life-saving move that could save up to three lives. Together, we can save lives over this festive season.
