Update on outage affecting Sasolburg and surrounds

MONDAY, 14 JUNE 2021, 09:30: Eskom regrets to inform electricity users affected by an outage in the Vaalpark area since yesterday, 13 June 2021, that they should prepare themselves for another day without electricity supply. Both transformers at Vaalpark Substation were damaged beyond repair.  No foul play is suspected as these transformers failures were due to normal faults.

Transformer replacement is an extensive process.  Should everything go as planned, Eskom aims to restore supply to Metsimaholo Local Municipality (Sasolburg) and Saaiplaas Rural line in the early hours of tomorrow morning, 15 June 2021.

We apologise for the inconvenience and remind electricity users to treat all electrical lines, sockets and appliances as live and dangerous at all times as electricity can be switched on without notice.

Eskom customers are encouraged to download the MyEskom Customer App from Google Play and the App Store.
