With the rise in violence against women and in the wake of a string of brutal attacks that have recently shocked the country, the runs aim to raise awareness of violence against women and children.

The social media hashtag #RunAgainstWomenAndChildrenAbuse will also play a prominent part in the visibility of this run.
Some of the top SA athletes who will participate in this race are Thabang Mosiako, Joel Mmone, Mthobisi Baloyi in the 10- km legacy run and Tshepo Tshite, Rantso Mokopane, Tumelo Machaba and Jerry Motsau will battle in the one-mile race.

The events are expected to attract more than 1,000 athletes from the North West and Gauteng provinces. The prize money for elite runners will be R5,000 for the winners, R2,000 for runners-up and R1,000 for the third place.
