My 81-year-old husband and I went for a drive in Deneysville on May 13. We live here and saw that road works were on the go. As no work has been done in this town for the last nine years, we went to see what they were doing.

To our surprise, they were digging a long trench down the side of the road and laying pipes in it. The trench seemed to be going to the Vaal Dam.

My husband got out of our bakkie and took photographs of this and `wow!’ A worker started shouting at him and then ran at him with a spade in his raised hand. My husband jumped into our bakkie and drove away. Are we now in danger if we see workers and stop to look? Very upsetting.
