Frequent pipe bursts: Asbestos pipes are being replaced, says municipality

Currently asbestos pipes are replaced in the northern parts of town

A solution for the frequent pipe bursts in Parys has never been more needed than now, says DA Clr Saal de Jager, who after consulting with experts, pleads that pressure reduction valves as well as air valves needs to be installed at critical points.
The frequent pipe bursts have a negative impact on water supply.

Municipal management this week responded to an enquiry on the matter saying that asbestos pipes in some areas were replaced last year and air valves installed.

Currently asbestos pipes are replaced in the northern parts of town whereafter the team will move to Vaal Parys to replace asbestos pipes with PVC pipes.

It was said that the project also includes the installing of air valves in these areas.
