Ward 7: Check your voter status

The position for a ward councillor became vacant after the death of Cllr Modise Moroenyane who sadly passed away on June 5. He was 47 years old.

The 4 055 eligible voters in the Ngwathe Local Municipality’s Ward 7, had the opportunity on Saturday and Sunday to register and check their registration details for the upcoming Municipal Ward By-election.

Check your voting status
Voters who missed registration weekend may check and update their details at their local (municipal) Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) office on weekdays during office hours. Alternatively, they can register as voters online at www.registertovote.elections.co.za.

Applications for special votes
Special voting will take place at voting stations and through home visits on August 27, between 08:00 and 17:00. Voters wishing to apply for a special vote can apply at their local IEC office during office hours between August 12 and August 15.

Applications for special votes can also be made online via the IEC’s website www.elections.org.za.
Once voters have applied online, they will receive an SMS notifying them of the outcome when their application has been processed. They can also check the status of their application online at www.elections.org.za.

Alternatively voters can apply for special votes by sending an SMS with their ID number to 32249 (charged at R1). The SMS application facility is only available for those applying to cast a special vote at their voting station and NOT for home visits.

Voting stations
Voting stations for Ward 7 are at St Paul Apostolic Church, Emmanuel Fellowship Centre, The African Presbyterian Church, Mooihoek Farm, Weiveld Agriculture and Hotel School, Boholong Farm School and the tent next to Parys Hospital. Voters are reminded that it is a criminal offence to register and vote in a ward in which they are not ordinarily a resident, the IEC warns.
