Nala’s journey home touched hearts

A story with a happy ending that touched so many hearts.

Words could hardly describe the overwhelming joy in the hearts of Nico and Lauren Okkers when they were reunited earlier today with Nala, their Boerboel, who  got lost on a gravel road between Hoopstad and Boshoff after a car accident over the weekend on their way back to the Western Cape.

Nala and five of their other Boerboels took part in the International Boerboel show in Parys where Nala was rewarded with a fourth place in her category.

Although the other dogs were found on the accident scene, Nala was nowhere to be found.

Articles and messages were shared all over in an effort to find Nala who eventually was found by Christiaan Rheeder and his family.

For two hours Christiaan  and his family spent time to gain Nala’s trust. With loving care they ensured her safety and cared for her while Nico and Lauren were on their way back from Cape Town to fetch Nala.

A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who actively searched, prayed, called, posted, shared, and wrote articles. Your support means the world, said Nico and Lauren.

“A special thank you to Ederies Mokkadam for gathering Lititia Hunt Kruger, Yolanda, Alande & the SABBS community to help.”

“We’d also like to thank Aletta from the Hertzog animal clinic for all the help and support in the surrounding areas, as well as police officer Kabelo of the Boshof Police services. Most importantly, thank you to God for all the answered prayers,” Nico and Lauren said.
