Phehellang learner among Free State’s top 100 matriculants

Congratulations to the school, learners and personnel

Phehellang Secondary School achieved an 88.8 per cent pass rate. Although the principal, Mrs D.S. Maloyi-Mofokeng, had not expected anything less than 90 per cent, she was taken aback by the number of learners who obtained a university entrance (Bachelor pass).

Since January 2023, the school registered 211 Grade 12 learners, with 206 completing all subjects. The school obtained 109 Bachelor passes, a percentage of 52.9.

The principal remarked that the school had maintained its excellence and said she was grateful to the educators who gave their all for the future of the class of 2023.

Mr J.B. Motloung (Maths teacher) is one of the top ten best-performing educators in the province, with a pass rate of 92.1 per cent and an average of 50 per cent, she said. The principal pointed out that the school’s mathematics had consistently been the best in the district since 2019.

In total, the school had 39 distinctions.

Makhoba Sibusiso was invited to the Department of Education’s well-done function in Bloemfontein on 19 January, where he was ranked among the top 100 performers in the Free State province. He achieved distinctions in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Geography, and Life Orientation. Sibusiso will study Medicine at the University of Pretoria. The school’s target for 2024 is to achieve a 100 per cent pass rate with 80 per cent Bachelor passes.
