Community responds to solve SPCA’s vehicle dilemma

Although it will take a couple of days for the vehicle to be fixed, there is overwhelming joy - the SPCA bakkie will be back on the road soon!

Only days after a letter with the cry for help of the Parys SPCA in dire need for funds to get their only vehicle back on the road had been shared on the Gazette’s website and social media platforms, the community opened their hearts with an overwhelming act of kindness in reaching out to the SPCA with donations.

Not only did they receive the much needed R4 000 to repair the bakkie’s engine, to enable the SPCA to  attend to abused, neglected, unwanted, stray, sick and injured animals, or investigate cruelty complaints, but will they also be able to do maintenance  on the vehicle that has been long overdue because of the lack of funds. A mechanically sound vehicle is imperative to ensure that no animal is left suffering for longer than what they already are.

The Parys SPCA covers a large area and rely on the generosity and support of our community to continue assisting abused, neglected, unwanted, stray, sick and injured animals.

As they do not receive any government funding, they rely solely on donations, and the cry for help for the SPCA was heard by a caring community who acknowledge the difference the dedicated staff make in the lives of countless animals in our community.

Thank you to all who responded and reached out to the Parys SPCA. Words can not describe the heartfelt appreciation for the donations received.
