Fuel for life – self-defense and fitness are key

On Saturday, 28 October, Viva fueling station hosted an aerobics and self-defense session organised by the Sipho Dinku Foundation in cooperation with OBC Butchery, KragApie Gym, Ngwathe Residents Association, Tumahole Police Station, Parys Panthers Basketball Academy, Tumahole Aerobics team and the Parys Working on Fire unit.

Sipho Dinku gave a motivational talk and Cllr Selma Kok and Setshego Masike elaborated on the importance of not only being physically fit, but also spiritually. Members of the Tumahole Aerobics team put all the participants through their paces with much fun (and sweat) by everyone. Then came the self defense tips for the ladies (and men) with the focus on fighting back against gender based violence. Practical tips according to the Bushido method were given on how to react in potentially life threatening situations. Everyone had a chance to put some of the moves into practice.

The Working on Fire team had everyone in admiration of the parade skills and discipline and made a huge impression also on visitors to the fueling station. The various groups were honoured for their work and participation in the event through the handing over of certificates and medals by the owner of VIVA garage and the Sipho Dinku Foundation.

Afterwards everyone enjoyed lunch together with sausages and pap provided by OBC Butchery and prepared by VIVA garage personnel. A huge thank you goes out to the sponsors VIVA fueling station, Krag Apie Gym, OBC Butchery, NgwatheRA.
