“Helping is the human thing to do”

"This program is aimed at covering the whole township and town where there's water challenges."

Rise ‘n Shine Community Foundation, known for it continuous outreaches in the community, has embarked in a project, bringing much needed help in the daily and dire need for clean drinkable water. It has been months now that the people of Parys and Tumahole have been struggling beyond end to get water, says, Rise ‘n Shine’s chairperson, Fani Tekane. For many something as basic as the sight of water running from a tap to wash, drink or flush a toilet, is something they haven’t seen in their homes for quite a time. The desperate reality of people queueing at water stations from as early as 02:00 in the morning so that they can get water, is heartbreaking, and during loadshedding the situation worsens.

“The water crisis affects us all and as a Foundation we took it upon our shoulders to outsource help from outside so that our people can be assisted while waiting for the municipality’s promise that the situation will better within 8 months, once upgrading at the Water Treatment Works is completed and a backup generator installed,” Fani said at the past week’s Parys Business Network meeting held at Doringbos Lodge & Venue.

He explained that through this remarkable program the Foundation has managed to cover a lot of sections where people gather for water. The challenge the Fundation has for now is insufficient resources such as Jojo tanks and trailers. He humbly appealed to any good Samaritan who would like to help to contact the Foundation on 078 1078 757.

Fani extended the Foundation’s heart felt gratitude to Mr Stephen le Roux and Mrs Renèe Hartslief for their undying support to the Foundation on this project.

“This program is aimed at covering the whole township and town where there’s water challenges.”

“Let us just try to help as this is the human thing to do,” he concluded in referring to the relief program.”

* Rise ‘n Shine Community Foundation was established in 2018 with the sole purpose of community development and youth empowerment. As a non-profit and non-political organisation they strive in bringing change in the community. Among the many worthy projects the Foundation has launched, is supplying clothes for newborn babies at the Parys, Kroonstad and Sasolburg District hospitals.

If you can in any way assist the Foundation with a JoJo tank or trailer, please phone Fani urgently on 078 107 8757.
