Department to implement cashless services

Make sure you read this important notice

The Department of Police, Roads and Transport (DPRT) would like to inform drivers, vehicle
owners and members of the public that cashless services will be implemented in a phase in
approach with effect from 1 December 2022 at all its Testing Stations and Registering Offices in
the Free State Province.
The decision was taken after numerous break-ins were reported at various offices of the DPRT
that handle cash payments.
In general, the safety of clients and officials will be secured as the cashless system will ensure
that would-be thieves will now have no incentive to rob offices or attack individuals to take their
cash.
As from Thursday 1 December, clients will only be able to use debit or credit cards when making
payments at any of the DPRT’s testing or registering offices.
The department apologizes for any inconveniences that might be caused during the migration
process to the new system.
