Parys Hospital: ‘We hardly have words to thank the community’

The donated tanks will help to ensure that the hospital’s water challenges are a thing of the past.

Over the past weeks, the management and staff of Parys District Hospital were overwhelmed by the continuous support from the community of Parys, businesses and farmers.
On numerous occasions, these people assisted with the immediate need for water at the Hospital, as the town is still suffering serious water supply issues and had a recent electricity crisis.
To crown it all, the business community of Parys donated and delivered two JoJo water tanks to the hospital.
These businesses sponsored in total no fewer than 42 water tanks for well-deserving organisations and the community of Parys.
Pula Build It and Repmetco started this project by offering to sponsor one tank for Parys and one for Tumahole to give back to the community. The amazing initiative grew, and two tanks became 42 as more businesses joined.
“Your caring nature has not gone unseen and, on behalf of the hospital personnel and our patients, we say thank you,” Ms Nthabiseng Malinga, the CEO of Parys District Hospital, said.

Although the hospital had a big water tank, technical challenges made it impossible to utilise the tank to its capacity. On Friday, 22 July, the provincial infrastructure technical team visited the hospital and identified what needed to be done to repair it. The team will now allocate a service provider for the work.
The donated tanks will help to ensure that the hospital’s water challenges are a thing of the past.
They will also be connected to the municipal water supply or the borehole to ensure that sufficient water is available when needed.
