Dudula aims action at the closing of immigrant owned shops

Members of the South African anti-migrant group Dudula, started with action last week to close immigrant owned shops in Mokwallo, Vredefort and Tumahole after the death of two children in Mokwallo. The action spreaded over the weekend to Zamdela and started in Parys on Monday 23 October, with most of the Spaza shops that closed their doors after being warned about Monday’s action.

Operation Dudula has its roots in the riots that swept across KwaZulu Natal and the Gauteng provinces in June 2021, and has become notorious for raiding busineses belonging to foreign nationals and forcing shops to close.

One of Dudula’s main objectives is to stop the selling of drugs in communities.

Members of Public Order Policing kept a close eye again this week as the activities of Dudula continued.
