R59: Latest update after tanker accident
We will advise the public as soon as the road is open for traffic again.
Motorists should take note that the R59 from Sasolburg towards Parys is still closed for traffic (Monday 4 September 12:16), and is expected to remain closed probably till much later today after a tanker transporting about 60 000 litres of diesel overturned near the Truck Stop before 07:00 this morning. The tanker has not been removed from the scene as yet at the time of publishing of this article.
Motorists travelling from Parys will however be able to go on the N1 towards Johannesburg.
Emergency teams have to clean the accident scene as well as the diesel spillage.
The driver of the truck was injured and taken to the Metsimahollo hospital earlier this morning.
Use the Barrage road as alternative route if you need to travel from Sasolburg towards Parys.
