Post office robbed - one wounded

  The police shot and wounded one suspect and arrested two suspects after committing a business robbery at the Post Office in Sasolburg. It is alleged by the victim that he was standing by  the door sanitizing clients when an unknown male entered the Post Office. He asked for change of ownership forms which he gave to him.

The victim further alleged that he went to fetch water. When he opened the door, an unknown male overpowered him pointing him with a firearm. It is reported that other two unknown males also went inside. The trio went to the manager and demanded the safe keys which he could not provide. The suspects then broke the burglar door and gained access to the safe which was not locked. An undisclosed amount of cash and the manager’s cellphone were taken by the suspects. They fled the scene in a white BMW without registration number.

A lookout was activated to different units and neighboring stations to pursue the suspects. They were apprehended in Sharpville, Gauteng province by the Sasolburg Tactical Response Team (TRT). One of the suspects was wounded after he was shot on the right leg and was taken to Sebokeng Hospital for medical treatment under police guard. A white BMW, undisclosed amount of cash, one pistol with no serial number and one pellet gun were confiscated by the police. A case of business robbery has been registered for further investigation in Sasolburg.

On the other hand a case of possession of suspected stolen property is registered for investigation in Vereeniging. The three suspects aged between 31 and 43 will appear in Sasolburg Magistrates’ court soon.
