Project clean-up Parys making a difference

You might have seen these guys along the streets of Parys doing an amazing job to clean the town. The non-profit, non-political organisation, Parys in Action, launched the clean-up campaign in Parys in 2020. Since then, they have been cleaning the town every week. Last week five guys with two trolleys cleaned the main street, thanks to the tremendous support of sponsors like Parys Sakeliga. who contributes to the campaign every week.

Ever since Parys in Action launched the Parys clean-up initiative last year with the help of sponsors, hundreds of bags of rubbish have been filled. Photo: Supplied.

Without the help of the public, community actions like these are simply not possible as the rubbish accumulates and so few donations come forward. Each contribution helps to keep the town clean for those visiting Parys, bringing much-needed income to businesses in the town. Even a small donation to pay for the bags used every week, or the five guys cleaning the streets of Parys, could make a huge difference. If you want to help or get involved in the cleaning Parys initiative, please contact June Britten on 073 116 9085, to find out what you can do. With rubbish being thrown down in heaps in the vicinity of the old cemetery and elsewhere in town, it is also necessary to do your part as a resident. Don’t litter and dump your rubbish in open areas or on sidewalks, where someone else has to pick up the mess.
