Phelophepa brings health care to FS communities

 

 

Transnet Phelophepa Health Care will be in Koppies from 2-6 August and 9-13 August, offering primary health care services to supplement those that are provided by the Department of Health to disadvantaged and poor communities. The Phelophepa Health Care train will be operational Monday to Friday, (including Public Holidays) between 07:30-16:00.

 

 

       

 

Services offered this year are an Eye Clinic, Dental Clinic, Health Clinic, Psychology Clinic and services to schools. In partnership with the Department of Health, Covid-19 rapid testing and referrals, HTS (inclusive of HIV and Aids testing, counselling and referrals, TB screening and referrals and vaccination roll out, will also be done.

The Eye Clinic will be doing eye testing and giving spectacles at only R30 per pair to remedy poor vision where needed. Children under 15 years will be helped with spectacles free of charge. The Dental Clinic will be screening and doing oral hygiene services and dental treatment in respect of fillings, cleaning and polishing and extractions. The cost for this is R10 for only one treatment, and R15 for 2 or more treatments. Children under 15 will be helped free of charge.

The Health Clinic will do screening and treatment of minor ailments with special focus on cancer and diabetes awareness and testing, with no cost to patients.

The Psychology Clinic offers counselling services on one to one, and group sessions (free sessions) both at the train and in the community. There is no cost involved.
