It’s official: FS province is on third wave of Covid-19 with exponential rise of daily infections

People 60 years and older can now register for vaccination

We are now in the Third Wave of the Outbreak and have today seen a shocking rise of infections to 427 new cases with 60 yet to be allocated to appropriate districts, Mondli Mvambi, spokesperson for the Free State Department of Health said in a statement today.
Mangaung has 200 new cases, Lejweleputswa has 95 new cases, Thabo Mofutsanyana 53 new cases, Fezile Dabi has 49 new cases,  and Xhariep 21 new cases, Mvambi said.
The Ngwathe Municipality forms part of Fezile Dabi and includes the towns of  Parys, Vredefort, Koppies, Heilbron and Edenville
With this in mind an appeal was made to the public to adhere to all Covid19 non- pharmaceutical measures.
It is important that you should take personal responsibility to avoid getting infected and when infected seek medical help and appropriately isolate or quarantine as you may be advised by health practitioners.
“Our communities must ensure that they play their part and protect the health system from getting overwhelmed if everyone gets sick. Our current ability to treat people may not last if unnecessarily stretched to the limit by non adherence to Covid19 measures. We can see that all over the world, there is no health system that is able to withstand the high numbers of demand for high flow oxygen, high care and intensive care units,” the health department said.
The department encouraged the public to register to vaccinate when asked to do so.
People 60 years and older are currrently registered through an EVDS system. You can register by logging in to  https://vaccine.enroll.health.gov.za/  on your smartphone or computer, or use a zero rated and no cost USSD  SMS system by dialing *134*832# or by free WhatsApp at 0600123456
The MEC of Health, Montseng Tsiu has taken this opportunity to appreciate the continuing sterling job of health care workers who have spent the whole heat now in the frontlines against a global pandemic. “We appreciate your efforts and hard work. We trust that our communities will cooperate and lessen your burden” said Tsiu.
