This is why Eskom is implementing loadshedding once again

Loadshedding to last till Sunday

Eskom has announced that stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented as from 12:00 today until 23:00 on Sunday. Eskom says loadshedding is necessary due to loss of generation capacity overnight, and to manage the use of the emergency reserves.

The system remains vulnerable and unpredictable should any further breakdowns occur. Eskom in a statement this morning said that 2 generation units at the Kusile Power Station tripped due to the failure of the main coal feed conveyor belts supplying coal to the units. In addition, a unit each at Kriel and Duvha tripped due to unforeseen breakdowns.

“We presently have four generation units whose return to service from planned maintenance has been delayed.” Eskom urged the public to reduce electricity consumption in order to help minimize loadshedding.

Parys will be affected on the following time slots as from today till Sunday. (Please take note  that at the time of printing the given time slot were accurate, but can not be guaranteed as Eskom can at any time switch between stages. )
