New visitor regulations at Mediclinic Potchefstroom

New visitor regulations at Mediclinic Potchefstroom

As of Monday 28 December, new visitor limitations have be applied at Mediclinic Potchefstroom due to the evolving second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an effort to ensure that they are best managing the risk to their patients and staff, the decision has been made to limit visitors.

“While we understand that visitors are important to our patients’ recovery, we believe that this is currently the most appropriate decision”, says Tertia Kruger, Corporate Communication Manager, of Mediclinic.

The new measures include:

  • All non-COVID19 patients are allowed one designated visitor per day.
  • Visitation is allowed at any time between the hours of 11:00 and 17:00 daily at the convenience of the patient/visitor.
  • Visitation for patients who are COVID-19 positive or suspected COVID-19 patients is restricted (thus not visitors in Ward B Medical Ward), however, exceptions will be made where possible and safe for critically/terminally ill patients.

Visitation measures are subject to change without prior notice should COVID-19 numbers increase significantly. According to Kruger, Mediclinic is working together within the healthcare sector to fight the pandemic. “We encourage communities to adhere to the lockdown and distancing efforts and to observe all measures put in place within the hospital to ensure the safety of our patients.”
