SHARPEVILLE –  The police in Sharpeville are investigating a case of Concealment of Birth.

This is after a body of a baby boy was found at a dumping site in Tshepiso Phase 3. According to Police Spokesperson Constable Busisiwe Sango, police received a complaint of a body of an infant laying at a dumping site.

Sango says, “It alleged that the body was found by three children who were playing at the dumping site. An ambulance was summoned to the scene to confirm the incident.”

The baby was certified dead by emergency personnel. Sango urged anyone who is facing problems with their pregnancy to visit the Victim Friendly Facility at the police station.

“We don’t have social workers, but our personnel will be able to point people needing help in the right direction.” Forensic Pathology Services were also called and removed the baby’s body from the scene.

The police are appealing to anyone who might have information regarding the incident to phone Sharpeville Saps on 016 451 2717. “The information will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.” Sango concludes.
