One killed, another critical in two collisions

One person was killed, and another left critically injured in two separate collisions on the R59 in Randvaal late last night.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived on the first incident on the south-bound highway and found that a light motor vehicle had struck and killed a pedestrian.

“Nothing could be done for the patient, and they were declared dead.”
Meiring said whilst medics were assessing the patients; a three-vehicle collision occurred on the northbound highway.
“On assessment, medics found that a 46-year-old man had sustained critical injuries in the collision. Medics extricated the man, treated him for his injuries and provided him with advanced life support interventions.”

Once treated, the man was transported to a private hospital for further care.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
