Police have launched an inquest investigation after a security guard shot himself on the N12 on Tuesday, 18 August.
According to Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Amanda Funani, police spokesperson, security guards were escorting a car that was transporting cigarettes from Klerksdorp to Potchefstroom, around noon. The vehicle collided with a taxi but they fled the scene.
“10 km from Potchefstroom the vehicle was stopped by traffic officers. The driver shot himself and died at the scene,” said Lt Col Funani.
