Absa branch temporarily closed

Absa today confirmed that the Parys branch is currently closed after an employee  tested positive for COVID-19, and is now in self-isolation. The branch is expected to reopen on 8 August 2020.

All necessary measures have been undertaken to ensure that those who were in contact with the colleague are tested and remain in precautionary self-quarantine, pending the outcome of medical tests, where appropriate, Absa said.

Absa also confirmed that they are in the process of engaging with the Provincial Health Authority in order to assist with contact tracing efforts.

“Consistent with the government’s health and safety protocols, we are committed to providing the highest level of support to all those impacted. We have a comprehensive support structure managed by a dedicated team of specialists. In accordance with our stringent health and safety measures. The matter has been reported to the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) and the branch has been closed for deep cleaning.”

” To date, all our branches and offices have been subjected to increased hygiene regiments, regular sanitizing and social distancing protocols in an effort to curb the spread of the virus. We are closely monitoring the situation and will keep our customers and employees informed of any changes,” said Absa’s Gillian du Toit, Executive Assistant to Khulani Qomo, Head of Strategic Communication & Stakeholder Management.
