64 new Covid-19 cases recorded at North West Education

There are 64 new Covid-19 confirmed cases recorded between Monday, 29 June and Wednesday, 01 July, in the North West Department of Education (DoE).

According to Elias Malindi, the Department of Education spokesperson, some of the people infected, were infected from outside the schools.

A learner who had tested positive, was placed on a quarantine site and has recently recovered.

The district breakdown includes:

  • Dr. Kenneth Kaunda: 12
  • Dr. Ruth Segomotsi Mompati: 2
  • Ngaka Modiri Molema: 16
  • Bojanala district: 34

North West MEC of Education, Mmaphefo Matsemela, was thrilled about the recovery of the learner and said that they will continue to monitor the well-being of individuals at quarantine sites. “We are hopeful that more recoveries will come through. We remain hopeful and believe that the recovery numbers will increase exponentially,” said MEC Matsemela.

Malindi says the Department of Education wishes families that are infected and affected, well, and continues to offer psycho-social support.

In total, the number of Covid- 19 confirmed cases in the department is 170.
