Police need information after post office heist

WO Peter Masooa says staff of the Westonaria Post Office had gathered outside the facility when they were targeted at around 06:00 on 31 March.
They were waiting for the manager to arrive when three armed men came up to them. “Don’t move, this is a robbery,” they ordered.

The manager arrived after the staff were instructed to lie down their stomachs.
The suspects pointed a firearm at him and ordered him to open the post office.
The robbers took an undisclosed amount of money and two laptops before fleeing the scene in a worker’s BMW.

The vehicle was later abandoned and recovered at Simunye near Westonaria. No one was injured in the incident.
The police urge anyone with information to come forward or contact 0860 010 111 with any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
