Water and electricity WILL be supplied during lockdown

Essential municipal services will continue

All Ngwathe residents must please take note that essential municipal services such as water supply, electricity, sanitation, fire and rescue and refuse removal services WILL continue during the national lockdown period of 21 days as from midnight today, 26 March till midnight 16 April.

Electricity

  • Electricity WILL be supplied and no loadshedding during this period is foreseen.
  • The Municipal Electrical Team will be on 24/7 standby and will attend to all electrical problems.
  • Ngwathe residents can report electrical problems as previously at the municipal emergency number on 082 909 3464. 
  • You will be able to buy electricity at the municipal offices 08:00 till  13:00 daily, or at Spar, Pick ‘n Pay, Checkers, USave and other supermarkets with Easy Pay services as well as Filing Stations. Electricity purchases shall continue as normal at vending stations.

Refuse Removal

  • Refuse removal will continue uninterrupted as normal.

Payment of services

  • As the President has not announced any payment holiday for services, all pay points across Ngwathe’s 5 towns  remain open BUT FOR SHORTENED HOURS. Payment offices will be open untill 13:00 daily.

Water

  • Fixing of the Trident Plant will continue during the Lockdown Period
  • 83 JoJo Water tanks have been put up in Parys, Tumahole and Schonkenville and 10 water tankers with a capacity of 16 000 litres each will be going around every day to make sure the JoJo tanks are filled up.
  • Please don’t gather around tanks. Get your water and go home. It is important that each and everyone have to stay home during this lockdown period.
  • Make sure to wash your hands.

Please adhere to the regulations published by governement for the period of lockdown.
