Saturday is the big day for Project Boom Street

Let’s all help to make Parys a neat and clean town that residents can be proud of.

Saturday, 22 February is the big painting day for Project Boom Street, and lots has already been done over the past two weeks to clean the area and prepare the concrete wall for the colourful makeover.
The artist, Deon TerBlanche, has a brightly-painted picture in mind but as bright colours are much more expensive, more donations are still needed, as well as soft block brushes.
That is the only way the 200 metres of the uneven surface can be painted.
Even if 50 people come to paint on Saturday, that still means four metres for each person to paint. Therefore, the more hands, the easier the job.
In fact, any help is welcome – whether it be brushes, rollers, paint, assistance with preparation and, of course, on paint day.
The Ngwathe Municipality has given permission for the project to paint the Mimosa Garden wall.
All artists, art groups, community groups, sports clubs, businesses, volunteers, guesthouse owners and others are welcome to join on Saturday.
You will even find members of Parys Voortrekkerkommando doing their share to help paint on Saturday.
Come early and join them in this colourful makeover.
The only requirement is a positive attitude and community spirit.
A hotdog stand will help too, says Deon.
Deon was also responsible for the #IMStayingParys project and initiated the Boom Street project.
He and the volunteers, Emil, Sonja, AD and Suzanne, and other helpers have painted primer, cleaned the pavement and street (80 bags collected already last week).

They scrubbed and scrubbed “the never-ending wall that felt like it’s getting longer and longer as we scrub” and trimmed the trees.
This week, the wall was prepared and painted with an undercoat.

If you can’t help with the project yourself, you might want to eft donations to FNB, Cresta, Branch Code 254905, Current Account 62318573153.
Please use, Boom and your company name as a reference.
