Local runners on high pace for 2020 running season

The 2020 running season took off at a high pace with many of Parys’ local runners competing at popular road running events. Athletes from all walks of life and fitness levels took to the streets, trails and tracks to prepare, train, and compete in their various running disciplines.

Great Brick Run
On 18 January, runners from Parys participated in the Great Brick Run presented by The Berts Bricks Marathon Club in Potchefstroom.
This race is not called the Great Brick Run for nothing. Athletes competing in the 21,1 km distance have the option of completing the second half of the race by running to the finish line with a clay brick in hand. Lauwrence Mohale, Abraham Khoali, Hendrik Scheepers and Lisa De Speville were some of the brave runners who accomplished the task, to receive their payment in beer at the finish line.
