In an article on IOL, the paramedics said three people died and eleven injured (six of them are critical) after a minibus and a bakkie collided just outside Potchefstroom, on the R53 Saturday afternoon (21 December).
When the paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident just after 12:00, it is said that they found the minibus on the road, whilst the bakkie was off the road.
According to IOL, Ineke van Huyssteen, the ER24 spokeswoman said, “Upon further assessment, three people were found to have sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene by paramedics. Six others had sustained critical injuries, while five others sustained moderate injuries”.
The ER24 and the EMRS treated and stabilised the patients before they transported them to hospital, where they would receive further medical care.
As stated, Van Huyssteen said that the circumstances with regards to the accident are unknown, however, the police were at the scene to conduct further investigations.
