VANDERBIJLPARK. – There is almost no way to describe the huge role animal rescue shelters play in the local community.
All these rescue shelters open their hearts to animals in need and without the support of the local community they can’t keep their doors open.
One of these rescue shelters is Kitten and Cat Rescue in Vanderbijlpark. They have bottle-raised and re-homed hundreds of new-born kittens since 2007. They have also trapped, sterilised and returned many cats at a local shopping centre.
They supply cat food to about seven individual women who feed feral cats in Sasolburg, Vanderbijlpark and Three Rivers.
They have rescued kittens that have been thrown in the garbage, kittens that have been stabbed, one that was shot in the back and the list goes on and on.
They have had to endure heart breaking situations but have stood strong and will keep on doing so with the support of the community.
Massive amounts of cat food, cat litter, dishwashing liquid, washing liquid for blankets, garbage bags, vitamin powder for cats and probiotic powder for cats are used in the process.
“We have recently been added as a Woolworths beneficiary on their MYSCHOOL/MYPLANET
programme so we try to encourage our supporters to add us to their list of beneficiaries on their Myschool card,” says Mia.
