Glittering Christmas trees with sparking ornaments are a much-loved festive season tradition at Vaal Mall. Now shoppers are invited to be part of the magic and create their very own Christmas trees for a chance to win a share of R30,000 in Vaal Mall gift cards.
The competition is open to all talented creators, makers and artists. We invite artisans, engineers, designers, schools, local non-profit organisations, and anyone keen to use their creativity to celebrate the holidays. Trees can be made from a variety of materials whether recycled, upcycled, handmade, or repurposed – and can be as fun, unique, and inspiring as their makers.
Christmas trees must be between two and three (2m-3m) metres tall and stable enough to stand unassisted. “Other than the height requirement, the only limit is the imagination,” says Carla de Villiers-Malan, Regional Marketing Manager for Vaal Mall. “We’re really looking forward to seeing our shoppers’ Christmas trees come to life and we hope that they inspire our community too, especially at this very special time of year.”
The competition is already enjoying support from schools like HTS Sasolburg while Wings for Life School in Vanderbijlpark plan to build their tree to help raise awareness around autism to show that creativity can be used in the service of a good cause.
Competition entrants must ensure their Christmas trees are delivered to Vaal Mall by 5pm on Thursday, 7 November 2019. All entries will be considered and winners chosen by a panel of independent judges.
“In addition to sharing some festive cheer, we’re thrilled to give away R30,000 in Vaal Mall gift cards to the talented creators, makers and artists during the season of celebration of giving,” says de Villiers-Malan.
