Heroin addict turns his life around

After a good Samaritan helped reunite a homeless man with his family, she learned that he, Jonathan Prinsloo, had been a victim of the damaging effects of heroin.

According to Kuda Chigariro, the young lady who succeeded in helping Jonathan, she was unaware that he was dependent on a substance.

Kuda posted on Facebook that Jonathan’s heart and mind knew where he wanted to be, but his body was restrained.

She says a man from a recovery centre in Centurion contacted her and offered his services to Jonathan.

According to Kuda, Jonathan decided to take the opportunity that the man offered him. Since Monday, 30 September, he has been recovering at the treatment facility.

“When the community took their time to assist with finding Jonathan’s family, a new door was opened for him. Thanks to all the shares to your groups and profiles, a gate was opened to welcome and assist Jonathan through his healing process,” said Kuda.

She also mentioned that she has now gained more insight into the plight of the homeless and addiction.

“Not every homeless person suffers from addiction to substance. Many of us live our lives addicted to things that we don’t even know are addictive,” she said.

Kuda urges people to challenge themselves and to do something for someone else. No matter how small, lending a hand to someone, especially the homeless, could help them start a new life off the streets.
