You are what you choose to be – a diamond of the future

Diamonds are forever.

Diamonds are forever.
This was the theme of this year’s Diamonds of the Future event, hosted last week for the 7th year at Stonehenge, thanks to the generous support of sponsors, who once again made this glamour event possible. Eighty high school learners from 8 different schools, accompanied by their teachers, had the honour of being the guests for the day where they were treated with food for thought by excellent speakers who contributed to the sparkle of these future diamonds.
Off to a sparkling start Ercilla Mate encouraged the girls to shine and show their uniqueness by owning and claiming it. “If you think it’s valuable treat it as such and preserve and care for it. Shine and show if it’s yours and contribute to the world” Her advise was to bank you credit and let people know your value. She referred to the instantness of a modern society, and pleaded that if you invest your energy in something, make it last.

Cathy Foster on her turn focussed her inspiring message of preserving the sparkle, on the idea of a treasure chest, saying that you have to love and appreciate yourself first before someone else can.
To do this, you need to know your own values, especially today where sex is often made cheap.
“Diamonds come from coal that withstood the pressure. Therefore you future is not for sale. I am what I choose to be – a diamond. Withstand the pressure and say no, because you’re valuable,” she concluded. “True happiness comes when you put God first”. The morning had quite a few life skill lessons for the girls that they could take home and make their own, while the hospitality of Stonehenge personnel and gifts from sponsors bought extra sparkle for these diamons of the future.
Other speakers included. Moipone Fokane, Charmaine Dippenaar, Nolihle Thabethe, Lesego Setou and Leida Schuman.
