Ten questions with Thabo Kolodi

Ten questions with Thabo Kolodi

1. What do you do for a living? (What does it entail and what do you enjoy the most and least about it?)

I do gardening and handy work, in general.
I enjoy taking care of nature, including trees, grass and flowers; I enjoy making a difference in the environment.

2. Where did you grow up and what did you want to become when you were a child?

I grew up in a rural area called Doornlaagte (Thawane Village) in the deep rural region of the North West province.
As a child, I wanted to become part of the Agricultural Research Course in SA, so that I could be one of those who have green fingers.

3. If there is one place in Potchefstroom where you would prefer to spend most of your time, where would it be?

It is most definitely the O.P.M. Prozesky Bird Sanctuary. I am a lover of different bird species.

4. Five people you want to meet and why?

• Raymond Ackerman. I would like to personally hear what triggered him to come up with such a big brand called Pick n Pay.
• Dr Tibane. He is a motivational speaker and a very successful businessman. I could do with words of motivation from him.
• Robert Kiyosaki. He is the author of the book called “Poor dad, rich dad”. I like his mentality and his mind-changing writing.
• Patrice Motsepe. I want to ask him a small favour, to put in the least of what he has to give up-and-coming business owners a stepping stone because the economy of our country will only grow when businesses boom, especially smaller enterprises.
• The J.B. Marks mayor. To make him aware that not all the youth are looking for work but they need a productive environment.

5. Which person would you never want to get stuck with, in a lift?

All the inconsiderate presidents because, sometimes, they gamble with the lives of innocent civilians.

6. The best place you have ever travelled to, or would love to go to one day?

I haven’t been there, but I would like to visit the Vredefort Dome between Potchefstroom and Parys.
That place has a lot of natural formations that one can take and realise that this world is not as round as most of us might think it to be.

7. What are your hobbies?

I am crazy about cycling, cooking and baking.

8. What five things do you never leave the house without?

• Cell phone
• Charger
• Medication
• Water bottle
• Key

9. Your three favourite meals?

• Sorghum porridge with cabbage
• Dumplings with chicken intestines
• Chicken livers with sour porridge.

10. Your favourite quote?

“You don’t have a choice where you are born but you have a choice where you are going to die,” Pastor Israel Motsamai.
