Ngwathe municipal officials in court for alleged corruption

Clement Karabelo Matlaletsa (27), Elma Manjati (30), and Tshieliso Raymond Matlaletsa (38), have appeared at the Parys Magistrate’s Court on Friday 7 December after they were arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigating unit  for alleged corruption.

It is alleged that Clement and Manjati who are employed by the Ngwathe Local Municipality with the assistance of the unemployed Tshieliso approached a local house owner whose municipal account was owing R26 000-00 and solicited a R11 000 bribe in order to write off the debt.

Manjati has been granted a R500 bail whilst the two brothers were each granted R1500 bail. The case against the trio has been postponed to January the 30th 2019 pending further investigation, said  the Hawks’ Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi
