VEREENIGING. – Russel Meiring from the ER24 communications office reported that 28 children were injured this morning 27 July following a taxi rollover on Houtkop Road in Vereeniging.

ER24 paramedics, along with Provincial Services, arrived on the scene at 07h20 to find the taxi parked on the side of the road. The occupants from the taxi were found seated on the side of the road.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found that 28 children had been injured. Assessments showed that their injuries ranged from minor to moderate.

Paramedics treated the patients and thereafter transported them to nearby provincial hospitals for further care.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
