Residents living in West Street should take note!

Public participation for proposed New Tumahole Outfall Sewer in Parys

Notice is hereby given that a public participation will take place on the 16th of July 2018 at 17:30 at the NG Parys Wes hall in Parys, for the proposed new outfall sewer line in Parys.

Ngwathe Local Municipality is proposing to upgrade the Tumahole Outfall Sewer line from a 400mm diameter pipe to a 500mm diameter PVC pipe. As part of the upgrade the pipe will be re-routed to run on the side of West Street as opposed to Allenby Street where it used to run.

Though the project does not trigger any listed activities in terms of the 2014 EIA Regulations as amended promulgated under National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No 107 of 1 998), the project will affect the residents of West Street with respect to excavations and traffic re-routing to lay the pipe throughout West Street.

All residents of West Street in Parys are therefore considered to be the interested and affected party (I & AP) and are therefore invited to the public participation meeting that will take place as per the above mentioned details.

The applicant, Ngwathe Municipality, is committed to comply with the conditions, which the LEDET has stipulated concerning the management of the environmental inpacts on site during contruction.

*The above letter is signed by P.P. Nhlapo, Acting Municipal Manager, Ngwathe on 6 July 2018
