Hawks rescue teenager from prostitution den

A joint operation by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime unit assisted by Mahikeng Tactical Response Team has led to the arrest of two suspects for alleged abduction, rape, sexual exploitation and trafficking of a 17-year-old Lichtenburg girl.

A joint operation by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime unit assisted by Mahikeng Tactical Response Team has led to the arrest of two suspects for alleged abduction, rape, sexual exploitation and trafficking of a 17-year-old Lichtenburg girl.
According to Hawks spokesperson, Capt. Tlangelani Rikhotso, It is alleged the two suspects abducted the girl at a hiking spot at Lichtenburg and was forced into prostitution, drugs and alcohol consumption.
‘The Hawks were tipped off and immediately with the assistance of the Tactical Response Team went to the suspected house unannounced and arrested the two suspects. The young girl was found inside the house which is alleged to be a prostitution den. The young girl was rescued and taken to a place of safety.
On Wednesday Natasha Moncho (22) and Mpho Sebati (20) appeared briefly at the Lichtenburg Magistrate Court and they were remanded in custody until their next appearance on 27 June 2018 pending further investigation.
The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations, Maj.-Genl Linda Mbana urged the community not to turn a blind eye on situations such as these as reporting these kinds of crimes could potentially save a life.
