Eskom warns customers

Eskom is warning its customers to be on the lookout for scamsters who claim to be testing, replacing or calibrating Eskom meters. These people call to say they will be visiting Eskom customers to do testing and replace faulty meters, but that payments should be made upfront and directly into their bank account.
That is the last the customers hear from them and, when they call Eskom to find out when the test will be done, they are informed that they have been the victims of fraud.
According to Eskom, all payments to Eskom should be  done through the normal billing system into the bank accounts that appear on their Eskom bills. No cash should exchange hands and no payments should be made to a bank account other than the one officially provided by Eskom,
