FESTIVE SEASON HIGH DENSITY OPERATIONS YIELDS SUCCESSES.

Police in the Free State in their continuous endeavor to keep the inhabitants of the Free State safe during the festive season have increased visibility and intensified crime prevention operations inclusive of roadblocks, stop and search operations, tracing suspects on warrant of arrests and patrols.

As a result of these high density operations a total number of 593 people were arrested throughout the province this weekend from the 24 to 27 November 2017.

The following arrests were done in the following crimes.

 Contact crimes inclusive of murder, attempted murder and assaults = 102

 Contact related crimes inclusive of arson and malicious damage to property = 10

 Crimes detected as a result of police actions = 102

 Liquor related crimes = 154

 Property related crimes = 13

 Other arrests= 131

 Other serious crimes = 72

 

The following were confiscated:

 Dangerous weapon confiscated = 39

 Drugs confiscated =37 389

 Electronic and Audio Visual Equipment =15

 Firearms and ammunition confiscated =25

 27 warrants of arrests were issued.

 

“These operations will continue throughout the festive season and beyond”, said Lt General Tsumane.
