All ducks were in a row for the annual Epilepsy SA Duck Race that took place at Garden Art Nursery in Parys last weekend.
A total of R16,950 was raised –  a huge drop from previous years. According to the organisers, this was largely due to the unexpected cancellation of the Dragon Boat Race at the Dome Adventure Festival.
Many thanks to all those who supported the duck race, which still caused much excitement. Local businesses supported well with three winning prizes. Congratulations to Bertus Muller from Barefoot Cinderella whose duck (Number 0528) came first, winning him R5 000 in prize money. Parys Security won the lucky draw for the 40” Samsung Smart TV. For Parys Security, the TV came just at the right time as theirs in the control room had broken over the weekend. This business has also     offered to manage the alarm system and armed reaction at Epilepsy SA for free, which is highly appreciated. The second prize of R2,500 was won by Willem Erasmus with duck 0423, and third prize of R1,000 by Hannes Rust of Namgola with duck 0132.
The ducks will be racing to raise money for the Vredefort NG Kerk on 2 December 2017. Contact Sidney on 083 653 3587 for tickets.
