The local Rotary Club had a braai last week at the Rotary Camp for club members and some of the charities they have helped the past year.
This included Ria Steenkamp from Client Care Prison Ministries, and a group from We Care. Also present were the current and past Presidents of the Interact Club at Weiveld Hotel and Agricultural School and the School Principal, Mr Riaan Els. Interact is the  Rotary Club for teenagers aged 14 to 18.
Rotary Club President, Judy Brown, and Rotarian Murray McMillan, presented Ryno Lindeque from We Care with radios. Judy also presented a Merit Certificate from the Club recognising the Community Service that We Care provide.
Jaco Stander, Assistant Governor, Rotary District 9370, then gave more information on the Rotary Youth Exchange, offering short and long term overseas exchange programmes. This is an excellent opportunity to live with a family overseas, attend a foreign school and learn another language. A foreign student will then return to Parys to be hosted here.
Long term is one year. Students must not be older than 18 years, and 6 months to apply. Short term is 6 weeks and students must not be older than 21 years. Other terms and conditions apply.
