The two workers that had been missing at AngloGold Ashanti’s Mponeng Mine since this morning have been found.

“They are being treated by parademics and are currently on their way to the hospital,’ AngloGold Ashanti’s spokesman, Mr Chris Nthite, told the Herald only minutes ago.

The workers were trapped about 3.6 km underground at Mponeng since a seismic event of 1.1 on the Richter Scale took place at the mine this morning at about 09:30. This disaster caused a total of eight workers to get trapped underground.

The bodies of two of the workers have since been recovered, and four of the other missing workers were rescued earlier.
