The Department of Labour has implemented a new system called Employment Services of South Africa (Essa in short). Essa will enable employers to register themselves as an organisation (once off) but, more importantly, their vacancies/opportunities become available within their business environment such as:
• Formal jobs
• Learnerships
• Apprenticeships
• Internships.
Based on the given criteria for an opportunity, Essa can automatically match individuals who meet the required criteria for an opportunity.
The Department of Labour can make the CVs of those individuals accessible to the employer. It remains the right of the employer to choose/screen/interview from the individuals matched to suit the vacant opportunity.
Interested employers can visit the nearest labour centre/Department of Labour for assistance. All services are free of charge. This is a national system, whereby all the clients register themselves or by the UI Act as work-seekers. The Department of Labour has also taken the initiative to promote this at further and higher education training institutions to extend the scope of clients registered at its offices. The Department of Labour would appreciate your contribution to making Essa a success.
