Plea for cemetery fence to be repaired

Freddie Scholtz, a DA member of the Fezile Dabi District Council, took this photo of cattle grazing among the graves in the cemetery. He has been appealing to the Ngwathe Municipality for the past two years to repair the broken fence on the Schonkenville side of the cemetery, but nothing has been done about it. He has written another letter to the acting municipal manager, Mr Pule Tsekedi, pointing out that cattle and horses continue to graze around, and even on, graves. The animals cause extensive damage to expensive tombstones and desecrate what is, to many people, sacred ground. He added that he receives regular angry complaints from members of the public.
